Tašmajdan Park is a public urban park in central Belgrade, Serbia, located east of the old town and close to major civic buildings. The park occupies a site that was historically quarried for building stone used in the city.
The park offers lawns, paved promenades and recreational facilities used by residents for walking and informal sports; it is also a frequent stop for visitors exploring the nearby historic centre. Monuments and nearby ecclesiastical buildings provide architectural interest at the park’s edges.
The area was quarried in the 19th century to supply limestone for city construction; over time the quarry workings were landscaped and converted to public parkland in the early 20th century. The park and its surroundings have been altered repeatedly for urban development and public uses.
Tašmajdan Park sits in Belgrade’s central area in the municipality of Palilula, immediately east of the city’s main administrative and cultural buildings and close to the Sava-Danube confluence.
