Terazije is the central square and main urban junction in downtown Belgrade, serving as a focal point for traffic, commerce and civic life. It functions as one of the city’s principal meeting points and is surrounded by major streets and public buildings.

The square contains several notable early 20th-century and interwar buildings and is adjacent to pedestrian shopping streets and cultural institutions. It has long been a commercial and transport hub, with tram and road connections linking much of the central city.

Terazije sits in the heart of Belgrade, between the main pedestrian Knez Mihailova street and government districts; it is within walking distance of the Sava and Danube rivers and the historical centre of the city.

• Hotel Moskva: Hotel Moskva, a prominent early 20th-century building with an ornate facade, stands on the square and is a frequent reference point for visitors.

Terazije is central in Belgrade; reachable on foot from Knez Mihailova Street or by multiple tram lines stopping at Terazije, as well as buses and taxis converging on the square.

• Stand on Terazije's fountain at night; the lighted buildings and passing trams make for dramatic urban photography.
• Watch for the statue of King Peter I-locals have strong opinions about which side of the square is 'the real' Terazije.
• Avoid rush hour if walking through-Terazije is a transportation hub with heavy taxi and tram traffic around 8-9am and 5-7pm.
