Kenyir Lake (Tasik Kenyir) is a large man-made reservoir in the state of Terengganu on Peninsular Malaysia, created by damming river valleys in the 1980s and used for hydroelectric power and freshwater fisheries.
The flooded landscape contains several hundred islands and is used for boat-based recreation, fishing and as a gateway to nearby rainforest and waterfalls. Visitors use the lake as a base for angling, boat tours and access to jungle lodges.
The reservoir was formed as part of a hydroelectric project in the 1980s that converted river valleys into the lake now managed for power generation and regional water use.
