On Gran Canaria’s western rim, Tamadaba Natural Park contains steep ravines and Canary Island pine forests; the park is frequented for multi-day hikes, panoramic coastal viewpoints and fir-tree groves.
Tamadaba Natural Park is a protected natural area on the northwest part of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands. It is recognised for its well-preserved Canary Island pine woodland and rugged coastal topography.
Visitors find steep ravines, pine-covered slopes and viewpoints that look out over the Atlantic Ocean. The area includes marked walking routes and mountain tracks used for hiking and nature observation.
Regional authorities designated the massif and surrounding slopes for protection to conserve its native forests and geological landscapes, limiting intensive development and preserving hiking access.
The park occupies the northwest sector of Gran Canaria, on the island’s higher ground near coastal towns on the western shore. Steep terrain falls toward the sea and the area is accessed from local coastal roads and mountain tracks.

How to Get to Tamadaba Natural Park #
The park is reached from the GC-200 coastal road; the main trailheads are accessed via the small inland roads from Agaete or Artenara. The nearest sizable town is Agaete (about 20-30 minutes’ drive). Public transport is limited-hire a car or join a guided excursion.

- Start early on the Mirador de los Tilos trail to find the best light for photographs and to avoid the afternoon wind that whips the ridges.
- Bring sturdy footwear: the paths are steep and the volcanic rock becomes powdery underfoot.
- Look for the ancient Canary Island pine (Pinus canariensis) stands-some trees show centuries of wind-sculpted bark that marks this park apart.

Tamadaba's pine forests and cliff-top views are best visited in the cooler months (late autumn to spring) when hiking conditions are most comfortable.
