Roque Nublo is a volcanic rock monolith on Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands, widely recognised as one of the island’s principal natural landmarks. The formation rises from a high plateau and is a focal point within the island’s central mountain landscape.

The site is reached by marked hiking trails that lead to a viewing area close to the rock; from the vicinity there are panoramic views across the island’s volcanic ridges and valleys. The rock itself forms part of a larger group of volcanic outcrops and makes a popular day-hike destination for visitors.

Roque Nublo formed through volcanic activity and subsequent erosion that left the resistant core standing above the surrounding terrain. The site has long been a local landmark and is integrated into modern tourism as a scenic and recreational destination.

The monolith sits in the interior of Gran Canaria, within the municipality of Tejeda, surrounded by rugged volcanic hills and highland landscapes. The area is inland from the island’s coastal settlements and accessed by mountain roads and footpaths.

• Access: Accessible via a marked trail from nearby parking areas, with the final approach consisting of a short rocky climb and viewpoints over the island’s interior.

Roque Nublo (Gran Canaria) is reached by car from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in roughly 40-50 minutes via the island road network toward Tejeda (follow signs to Tejeda/Parador and then to Roque Nublo on GC‑60). There is a marked parking/visitor area near the Mirador del Roque Nublo.

From the main parking a well‑signed footpath leads to the rock - expect a short walk of about 1-2 km (roughly 15-30 minutes) along a stone path to the Roque Nublo viewpoint.

• Visit Roque Nublo at sunrise or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat and the busiest hours - the short trail from the official car park is far more pleasant and photogenic in golden light.
• Use the designated car park and marked trailhead rather than stopping on narrow mountain roads; the main path to the rock is a short, well‑used route so parking at the official lot minimizes congestion and local disturbance.
• After reaching Roque Nublo, walk the nearby viewpoints (rather than returning immediately) to catch panoramic views of the Caldera de Tejeda and neighbouring Roque Bentayga - these vistas are often overlooked by visitors who turn back straight away.
