Visa-Free Entry#
Citizens of the US, UK, EU countries, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and many others can stay 90 days visa-free. Complete the online arrival card before you land.
Digital Nomad Visitor Visa#
Launched in January 2025 and expanded in January 2026:
- Who: nationals of countries that are visa-exempt for Taiwan.
- Income: at least $40,000 a year in one of the last two years if you are 30 or over, or $20,000 if you are 20 to 29. A digital nomad visa from another country can also qualify you.
- Savings: an average bank balance of at least $10,000 each month over the previous six months.
- Insurance: health and hospitalisation cover for the whole stay.
- Length: six months, renewable in six-month steps up to two years in total.
- Work: remote work for employers and clients outside Taiwan.
- How to apply: at a Taiwanese embassy or representative office (TECO), usually processed in about ten days.
Employment Gold Card#
The Gold Card combines an open work permit, resident visa, ARC and re-entry permit, valid for one to three years. It is for skilled professionals in fields such as science and technology, finance, education, culture and arts, and digital industries, often with a salary of about NT$160,000 a month or recognised expertise. Holders can work for Taiwanese companies and get tax benefits on high income. Apply online through the Taiwan Gold Card portal.
