About Tachara

The Tachara is the private palace attributed to Darius I within the Persepolis complex in Fars Province, Iran, and is a principal Achaemenid building on the site.

Noted for its finely carved stone doorways and reliefs, the Tachara formed part of the royal palace district and displays characteristic Achaemenid sculptural decoration.

It was constructed in the Achaemenid period under Darius and was damaged when Persepolis was sacked in the late 4th century BC, but substantial stone elements and reliefs survive.

The palace stands within the Persepolis archaeological site near Shiraz in Fars Province and is visited as part of the wider Persepolis monuments.
