Taboga Island

Taboga Island is a small island in the Gulf of Panama, known locally as the Island of Flowers. It is a short boat ride from Panama City and combines small beaches, a compact village and colonial-era buildings.

The island’s primary attractions are sandy swimming beaches, short coastal hikes and a small village with restaurants and a colonial church that dates to the Spanish colonial period. Day trips from Panama City are common, and many visitors explore the island on foot.

Taboga was settled during the colonial era and retains historic buildings from that period, including a church from the 16th century, alongside more recent tourist-oriented facilities.

The island lies approximately 20 kilometres from Panama City and is reached by regular ferry services from the Amador Causeway and other mainland pontoon piers.
