Svrzo's House

Svrzo’s House is a preserved Ottoman-era residential building in the Baščaršija quarter of Sarajevo, presented today as a house museum. The structure demonstrates traditional Bosnian-Ottoman domestic architecture and household layout.

Interiors retain original wooden fittings, carved details and multiple rooms arranged around an inner courtyard, giving a clear picture of family life in an Ottoman urban house. The museum layout is compact and intended to show everyday living spaces rather than large ceremonial rooms.

The house was built in the Ottoman period for the Svrzo family and has been preserved and adapted as a museum to illustrate residential life under Ottoman influence in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The structure has undergone conservation to retain its historic fabric while allowing public access.

It stands in the old bazaar area of Sarajevo’s historic centre, within walking distance of other Baščaršija landmarks.
