Stavropoleos Monastery

Stavropoleos Monastery is a small Eastern Orthodox monastery and church in central Bucharest, Romania. The church was completed in 1724 and is an example of the Brâncovenesc architectural style.

The site includes a carved stone and wood iconostasis, a compact library and archive of liturgical books and icons, and a small inner courtyard with a marble fountain. Services are held regularly and the complex remains an active religious community.

Built in the early 18th century, the church and monastery have been maintained and restored over time and survived urban changes in Bucharest. The ensemble preserves traditional Orthodox liturgical furnishings and decorative stonework.

The monastery sits on Strada Stavropoleos in central Bucharest close to Calea Victoriei and the historic Old Town, within easy walking distance of the city centre.
