University Square (Piața Universității) is a central public square in Bucharest located in front of the main building of the University of Bucharest. It is a regular focal point for political demonstrations, cultural events and public gatherings in the city.

The square is surrounded by key city institutions and landmarks, including university buildings and cultural venues, and functions as a transport and pedestrian hub. It is frequently used as a meeting place for demonstrations and large public assemblies.

Across the 1990s and later decades University Square became strongly associated with anti-government demonstrations and civic activism, which have shaped its contemporary identity as a rallying location for causes and public expression.

University Square sits in central Bucharest on the north bank of Dâmbovița River, within walking distance of the historic Old Town and other central landmarks; it is served by Bucharest’s public transport network.

University Square (Piața Universității) is in central Bucharest and is served directly by the Universitate metro station on Metro Line M2 (the station opens onto the square). Many surface buses, trams and trolleybuses run along the surrounding boulevards (Regina Elisabeta, Carol I), and metro exits put you on the square with essentially no additional walk. From Henri Coandă (Otopeni) Airport the drive is about 16 km to the city centre (roughly 30-45 minutes by taxi or airport bus depending on traffic).
