The Statue of Unity is a 182-metre statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel located near Kevadia in Gujarat, India, and is the tallest statue in the world. It was inaugurated in October 2018 and forms the centrepiece of a larger visitor complex.
The complex includes landscaped gardens, a museum and a ticketed viewing gallery inside the statue at about 153 metres that provides panoramic views over the Narmada valley. Visitor facilities also include exhibition spaces and memorial elements explaining Patel’s role in Indian history.
The site supports guided visits, interpretive displays and events; the memorial complex is arranged around the statue and adjacent river and parkland areas.
The statue was commissioned by the Government of Gujarat and constructed by a major Indian engineering firm, opening in 2018 as a national monument to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It was developed as both a commemorative sculpture and a public tourism project.
The statue stands on the Narmada riverbank near the Sardar Sarovar Dam at Kevadia in central Gujarat, roughly 90 kilometres from Vadodara and several hours’ drive from Ahmedabad.

Regular government and private buses run from major cities such as Ahmedabad and Vadodara; the nearest major railhead is Vadodara (about 90-100 km away) from which road transfer is common. For a more direct approach, some travelers use private cars or tour operators that include entry reservations and timed observatory tickets.
