St. Joseph's Cathedral, Hanoi

St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Hanoi is a neo-Gothic Roman Catholic cathedral in central Hanoi, Vietnam, completed in 1886. It serves as the cathedral church of the Archdiocese of Hanoi and is a prominent example of colonial-era ecclesiastical architecture in the city.

The cathedral features a brick façade and twin bell towers framing a pointed-arch entrance, drawing frequent visitors for photography and devotional services. The square in front of the church is a popular gathering and photo spot.

Construction was carried out by French colonial authorities and completed in 1886; the building has been used continuously as the seat of the Roman Catholic archdiocese since that time. It has undergone repairs and maintenance in the 20th and 21st centuries to preserve its structure and interior fittings.

The cathedral stands on Nha Tho Street in Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem district, within the historic French Quarter and a short walk from the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake.
