Spring Temple Buddha

The Spring Temple Buddha is a large modern Buddhist statue complex in Lushan County, Henan province, China, erected in the early 21st century. The figure forms the centrepiece of a broader temple and landscaped site designed for pilgrimage and tourism.

The seated statue itself measures 128 metres, and with its multi-level pedestal and lotus base the total monument rises to roughly 153 metres. Visitors typically explore the landscaped approaches, auxiliary temple buildings and viewing platforms to appreciate the scale of the installation.

Work on the complex took place in the late 1990s and 2000s with the main statue completed in the 2000s; it was created as a modern monumental representation of the Buddha and to develop the site as a place of worship and tourism.

The monument sits in a scenic area of northern Henan province near the Fodushan scenic complex and is accessible from nearby towns and county transport routes.
