How to Get to Souda#
Souda is the port area adjacent to Chania on Crete and is best reached via Chania International Airport (CHQ). There is no train network on Crete; KTEL regional buses, taxis and rental cars provide the main onward transport to Souda and the surrounding area.
Chania International Airport (CHQ, Souda): Chania airport (CHQ) is very close to Souda Bay and serves many domestic and international flights; travel time from CHQ to Souda is typically 10-20 minutes by car or taxi.
Heraklion International Airport (HER): Heraklion is another major airport on Crete; journeys from HER to Souda/Chania take longer (around 2-2.5 hours by road) but are an option if flight schedules suit your itinerary.
Train: Crete has no train network.
Bus: KTEL Chania operates frequent bus services linking Chania town and Chania airport with Souda port and local villages; the Chania town-Souda run is short (about 10-20 minutes) and inexpensive. Ferries operate from Souda Bay to some islands and seasonal routes - check port timetables during summer months.
