- For birding, start at Pipeline Road (Camino de Oleoducto) at first light-this stretch is world-renowned for species diversity and is busiest early, so very early starts increase sightings and reduce encounters with other groups.
- Enter the park from Gamboa or the main Soberanía access points and consider hiring a local guide for targeted birding or mammal searches; guides know seasonal hotspots and can often relocate rare species that casual visitors miss.
- Combine a short Soberanía hike with a visit to the nearby Gamboa area (e.g., Panama Canal viewpoints) in the same morning to maximize travel time-weekday visits are quieter than weekends when local visitors increase on popular trails.
