About Slītere National Park

Slītere National Park is a protected area on Latvia’s Kurzeme coast in Talsi Municipality, preserving coastal forests, dunes and shoreline landscapes. The park conserves a mix of boreal and coastal habitats important for regional biodiversity.

The area’s landscapes and traditional land uses have been part of local communities for centuries; modern protection measures established the national park to conserve habitats and species of local and national importance.

The park lies along Latvia’s northwestern Baltic coast in Talsi Municipality, set among low coastal hills, dunes and forest near the shoreline.
