Situ Gintung is a small reservoir and dam located in Banten province on the outskirts of Greater Jakarta, Indonesia. It functions primarily as a local water body rather than a recreational attraction.
The site is largely visited for local reasons rather than tourism; the reservoir and surrounding area are modest in scale and lie within a suburban and peri-urban landscape. There are no major visitor facilities or developed recreation areas associated with the reservoir.
The reservoir gained international attention after the embankment breached in March 2009, causing sudden flooding downstream and significant local damage. Since that event the site has been noted in reports on dam safety and urban development in the Jakarta metropolitan area.
