Ragunan Zoo is in South Jakarta’s Pasar Minggu district. From central Jakarta (Monas area), take a taxi or ride-hail service and expect 30-60 minutes depending on traffic (Jl. TB Simatupang and Jl. Raya Ragunan are key approaches). Public transit: TransJakarta Corridor 6 or 7 to Ragunan or Pasar Minggu stops, then a short ojek (motorcycle taxi) or 10-20 minute walk. There are several gates; the main visitor entrances are along Jl. Harsono RM.

• Enter via the Ragunan Barat gate to avoid the longest lines at weekends.
• Come early on weekdays (before 9:00) to see feeding times and avoid Jakarta heat.
• Bring small change for frozen snacks sold by vendors - the primates and birds get the attention, but the cold es teler is memorable.
• Skip the crowded mammal house during school holidays; the aviary and freshwater aquarium are quieter and more interesting.
