The Sibelius Monument is a modernist sculpture in Helsinki created by artist Eila Hiltunen to honour composer Jean Sibelius. It consists of a large assembly of hollow steel tubes and was unveiled in 1967.
The monument’s cluster of welded steel pipes is mounted on a plinth in a small park and is often photographed; nearby is a separate seated portrait of Sibelius. The site is used both as a memorial and a public green space.
Commissioned to commemorate Jean Sibelius, the sculpture was completed by Eila Hiltunen and installed in the late 1960s; its abstract form sparked public discussion at the time but is now an established city landmark.

The Sibelius Monument is in Sibelius Park by Töölönlahti in Helsinki, about 2-3 km from Helsinki Central Station - a 20-30 minute walk or a short (5-10 minute) drive. There is limited parking nearby.
Public transit: take a short tram or bus ride toward Töölö/Töölönlahti and walk a few minutes through the park to the monument; it’s also within easy walking distance from the Olympic Stadium area.

- Visit at opening or just before sunset to avoid midday tour buses that stop at the park; the metal pipe clusters are easiest to photograph without crowds at those times.
- After seeing the main pipe sculpture, walk the adjacent park paths to find the smaller bronze Sibelius bust and quieter angles of the monument-many visitors only view the large pipes.
- Combine the visit with a short stop at the nearby Töölö neighborhood rather than treating it as a single quick photo-the area is compact and gives context to the monument's setting.
