How to Get to Shinas

Shinas sits on Oman's northern Al Batinah coast and is reached mainly by road from Muscat. There are no frequent nearby commercial airports with regular passenger service, so overland travel (car or Mwasalat coach) is the practical option.

By Air

Muscat International Airport (MCT): Muscat is Oman’s main international airport and the usual arrival point for visitors. From Muscat you can travel by road north along the coastal highway to reach Shinas; the drive is several hours (typically 4-6 hours depending on stops and traffic).

Sohar / Ras Al Hadd (regional): There are no major regular commercial airports closer to Shinas with frequent passenger services; domestic flight options are limited, so most travellers use Muscat and continue by road.

By Train & Bus

Train: Oman does not have an operational national passenger rail network in regular service that connects Muscat to Shinas.

Bus: Mwasalat (Oman’s national bus company) operates long-distance bus services linking Muscat with northern governorates; coaches and intercity bus services run to towns along the Al Batinah coast - check Mwasalat timetables for exact routes and times to Shinas or nearby towns. Travel time by road from Muscat is several hours.
