How to Get to Saham
Saham on the Al Batinah coast is reached by road from Muscat (MCT) or via buses to Sohar and nearby towns. Muscat is the main international arrival point, with onward travel by bus or taxi for the final leg.
Muscat International Airport (MCT): Muscat is the main international gateway for northern Oman. From Muscat to Saham the drive is about 1.5-2 hours depending on traffic; taxis are available at the airport and private transfers are commonly used for direct trips to coastal towns.
Sohar / Ras Al Hadd (regional airports): Smaller airfields exist in the north but Muscat remains the principal airport for international travellers to Saham and the Al Batinah region.
Train: Oman currently has no national passenger rail network in regular operation connecting Muscat to Saham; rail is not a travel option for this route.
Bus: Mwasalat operates intercity bus services across Oman and runs routes between Muscat and coastal towns including Sohar and surrounding districts. Fares are reasonable (often 1-3 OMR for regional trips) and buses are comfortable; from Sohar you can take a short taxi to Saham.
How to Get Around Saham #
Saham is a coastal Omani town where short trips around the centre are walkable. Cars are the most common way to travel regionally; taxis are available but might be limited, so plan in advance for onward journeys. For local errands, small vehicles and walking are practical.
