How to Get to Shajing
Shajing is a town in Bao'an District, Shenzhen; most visitors arrive via Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (SZX) or by high-speed rail to Shenzhen's major stations (Shenzhen North, Futian, Shenzhen). From those hubs it's usually a short taxi or a metro+bus ride to reach Shajing's town centre.
Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (SZX): Shenzhen Bao’an is the closest major airport for Shajing (Bao’an District). From SZX to Shajing town centre you can take a taxi (about 20-35 minutes depending on traffic; roughly CNY 60-100), or use the metro + local bus combination (take Metro Line 11 from the Airport station then transfer to a local bus; combined fare about CNY 8-15 and 35-60 minutes). Airport shuttle buses/coach services also run to points in Bao’an district - fares and timetables vary by route.
Hong Kong International Airport (HKG): If you fly into Hong Kong, the fastest cross-border option is Airport Express to Hong Kong Station (HKD ~115, ~24 minutes), then MTR/East Rail and the border crossing into Shenzhen, followed by Shenzhen Metro or taxi to Shajing. Expect total travel time of around 1.5-2.5 hours and a combined cost in the range HKD/CNY 160-250 depending on transfer choices and any taxi legs.
Train: The main high-speed railway stations serving Shenzhen are Shenzhen North (深圳北站), Futian (福田站) and Shenzhen (深圳站). High-speed (G/D) services connect Guangzhou South and Hong Kong West Kowloon with Shenzhen; Guangzhou South → Shenzhen North takes roughly 20-30 minutes and fares are commonly in the ~CNY 40-120 range depending on class. From any major station you can reach Shajing by taxi (20-40 minutes, CNY ~40-100) or by a metro + bus link.
Bus: Intercity coaches arrive at various Shenzhen coach terminals and long‑haul buses run to Bao’an district; local Shenzhen city buses and Bao’an minibuses serve Shajing directly. Local bus fares inside Shenzhen are typically CNY 1-6 per ride; airport shuttle coaches to parts of Bao’an/Shajing are usually CNY 15-30 and take 30-60 minutes depending on route and traffic.
How to Get Around Shajing
Getting around Shajing is easiest by mixing Shenzhen Metro for longer legs and local buses or taxis for the final mile; DiDi/taxis are often the fastest door-to-door option. For short local trips, shared bikes and walking work well - public-transport payment is straightforward with Shenzhen Tong or mobile QR pay.
- Shenzhen Metro (CNY 2-12) - The metro is the most reliable way to cover longer distances in Shenzhen and to link to Shajing via transfers to local buses or short taxi rides. Line 11 serves the airport and gives fast access toward central Shenzhen; from interchange stations you can transfer onto lines and buses that serve Bao'an. Pay with a Shenzhen Tong card, QR codes (WeChat/Alipay) or single-ride tickets - expect fares roughly CNY 2-12 depending on distance.
- Taxi / DiDi (CNY 10-100) - Taxis are convenient for door-to-door trips in Bao'an and to/from stations and the airport; meters start low and runs are generally reasonable for short journeys. DiDi (and local e-hailing) are widely used but may require a Chinese phone number/Alipay/WeChat for booking and payment. Expect typical short rides in the Shajing/Bao'an area to cost from CNY 10 up to CNY 100 for longer cross-city trips; airport rides include surcharges.
- City buses & minibuses (CNY 1-6) - A dense network of Shenzhen city buses and local Bao'an minibuses serves Shajing and nearby towns; these are the cheapest way to get around locally. Most single trips cost CNY 1-6 and you can pay by Shenzhen Tong card or mobile payment. Buses can be slow in peak hours but are useful for reaching neighbourhoods not directly on the metro.
- Intercity high-speed rail (CNY 40-120) - High-speed trains to Shenzhen arrive at Shenzhen North, Futian and Shenzhen station from Guangzhou, Hong Kong and beyond - they are fast, frequent and a good option for regional travel. Tickets vary by distance and class; short regional runs (e.g., Guangzhou South → Shenzhen) typically take ~20-40 minutes and fares commonly fall in the CNY 40-120 band. From the railway stations you usually transfer to metro or taxi for the last leg to Shajing.
- Shared bikes & e-bikes (CNY 0.5-5) - Shared bicycle and e-bike services are common for short trips around Shajing and for last-mile travel to bus stops or metro entrances. Unlocking is paid by app and rides are inexpensive (short trips often CNY 0.5-5). Helmets and safe riding are important - use designated lanes where available and park in designated zones.
- Walking - Shajing's town centre and nearby streets are compact enough to explore on foot for short trips, markets and local eateries. Walking is the best way to experience local neighbourhood life and avoid traffic for very short distances. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for hot, humid weather in summer.
