How to Get to Selçuk
Selçuk is best reached via Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB), with regular regional trains and minibuses linking Izmir and Selçuk. The town's railway station provides direct access for visitors heading to the Ephesus archaeological site.
Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB): Izmir ADB is the main airport for Selçuk (about 65-75 km). From ADB you can take a Havaş or Havatas shuttle into Izmir city centre (around 30-40 minutes) and then a regional train (İZBAN/regular regional services) or direct regional train from Izmir Basmane to Selçuk; total travel time is typically 1-1.5 hours. Airport taxi directly to Selçuk is about 1-1.25 hours depending on traffic.
Bodrum-Milas Airport (BXN): Bodrum-Milas is farther (around 150 km) and used mainly by charter flights; from BXN you’ll typically transfer by bus or private shuttle to Selçuk with travel times of 2.5-3.5 hours depending on route and service.
Train: Selçuk is served by regional trains from Izmir (Basmane station) on the İzmir-Aydın line; direct regional trains take about 1-1.5 hours and are a convenient option for tourists visiting Ephesus. Tickets are inexpensive and bought at the station or on the train for regional services.
Bus: Intercity buses (Pamukkale Turizm, Kamil Koç and others) run to nearby Kuşadası and İzmir; from those hubs local minibuses (dolmuş) or buses connect to Selçuk (10-30 minutes). Kuşadası-Selçuk dolmuş rides are frequent and cheap.
How to Get Around Selçuk #
Selçuk is compact around the main town and archaeological sites, so a lot can be seen on foot. Local minibuses (dolmuş) and taxis serve short routes, and frequent shuttles or buses connect Selçuk with İzmir and Kuşadası for longer trips. Bicycle and scooter rentals are common for short explorations. Practical tip: dolmuş fares are inexpensive; if you’re visiting Ephesus, expect it to be a short, cheap ride by taxi or dolmuş from the town centre.

Nightlife in Selçuk #
Evening life in Selçuk is relaxed and family-friendly; restaurants, tea gardens and a handful of bars serve visitors and locals. There’s occasional live music at hotels and guesthouses, but no large nightclub scene. Most nightlife is centred on dining and low-key bars close to the town centre and the archaeological tourist route.
Shopping in Selçuk #
Selçuk caters to visitors to nearby Ephesus, so you’ll find souvenir shops, small galleries and stores selling local foodstuffs like olives, olive oil and dried fruit. There are also a number of small boutiques along the main streets aimed at tourists. For bigger supermarkets or more specialised shopping, travel to nearby larger towns or to Kuşadası.
