About Sarvestan Palace

Sarvestan Palace is a Sassanian-era monument located near the town of Sarvestan in Fars province, Iran, and is generally dated to the 5th century CE. The site is noted for its brick-built vaulted halls and distinctive Sassanian architectural forms.

The main remains form a compact complex with a large central hall and flanking rooms; scholars have interpreted the building variously as a palace, reception hall or ritual structure. The ruins illustrate construction techniques and architectural motifs of the Sassanian period.

The structure was erected during the Sassanian era and has survived as a ruin that has been the subject of archaeological study and conservation efforts in the modern period.

The site lies in rural Fars province, east of the city of Shiraz and adjacent to the small town of Sarvestan, within the historic cultural landscape of south-central Iran.
