How to Get to Šargan Eight

Nearest railway/road access via Mokra Gora, about 15-20 km from Užice. Regular tourist trains depart from Mokra Gora; follow local signage for the Šargan station. By car, use regional roads towards Mokra Gora and the Drvengrad (Mećavnik) complex.

Tips for Visiting Šargan Eight

  • Buy tickets on-site for the heritage railway and check seasonal timetables in advance - trains may run fewer days in winter.
  • Sit on the left side in the direction of travel for the most dramatic views of the Šargan curve.
  • Arrive early to see the old-time station rituals: coal smoke, porters' calls and engineers checking boilers.
