How to Get to Novi Pazar#
Novi Pazar is a southwestern Serbian city with no direct long-distance rail service; it’s best reached by intercity bus from Belgrade, Niš or regional centers. Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG) is the main international arrival point-after landing most travelers continue by bus or hired car to Novi Pazar.
Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG): Belgrade’s BEG is the largest nearby international airport; from Belgrade to Novi Pazar by road takes about 3.5-4.5 hours depending on route and border crossing traffic (if routing via Kosovo), so many visitors prefer bus connections. Airport-to-city transfers include taxis (~RSD 1,800-2,500) and buses to the central bus station.
Tivta/Pristina Airport (PRN) as an alternative: Pristina (Kosovo) can be closer by road for some routes to Novi Pazar (around 2-3 hours depending on border procedures). If traveling via PRN, factor in cross-border formalities; local buses and taxis operate from the airport to Pristina center and onward services to Serbia.
Train: Novi Pazar does not have a direct long-distance passenger rail connection. The nearest significant rail hubs are in Užice or Raška area but rail is not the practical main link.
Bus: Long-distance buses are the primary way to reach Novi Pazar. There are frequent bus services from Belgrade’s central bus station (BAS) and from other regional centers (Niš, Novi Sad, Pristina). - Bus from Pristina (cross-border) (EUR / local fares) - There are bus connections between Pristina (Kosovo) and Novi Pazar; crossing the border can add time for passport checks. This route can be shorter in distance for some travelers-check schedules and border rules before booking.
- Local minibuses and taxis (RSD small amounts) - Within Novi Pazar local minibuses and taxis provide short-distance transport across the city and nearby villages. They are inexpensive and useful for short hops around town; confirm destination with the driver first.
