How to Get to Santo António
Santo António (Príncipe) is reached either by direct flight to Príncipe Airport (PCP) or by flying to São Tomé (TMS) and catching an inter-island flight or occasional ferry. On each island, local minibuses, taxis and walking cover last-mile travel.
São Tomé International Airport (TMS): The main international airport on São Tomé island; arrivals are typically followed by short road transfers into São Tomé city and onward to towns across the island. Taxis and hotel transfers operate at the airport.
Santo António/Príncipe Airport (PCP): Santo António is the principal settlement on Príncipe island and has its own small airport (PCP) with regular domestic flights from São Tomé. If you arrive on Príncipe you’ll generally be a short taxi or walk from Santo António.
Train: There are no passenger rail services in São Tomé and Príncipe.
Bus & Minibus (aluguer): Shared minibuses (often called aluguer) and taxis are the primary public transport on São Tomé island. They connect São Tomé city with coastal towns and interior villages; fares are low and short journeys are quick, but services are informal and schedules vary.
How to Get Around Santo António #
Santo António (Príncipe) is very small and highly walkable-most guesthouses, restaurants and the pier are within easy walking distance. Island travel is typically by taxi or arranged transfers; some lodges run shuttles and boat services to nearby beaches and reserves.
There’s limited public transport on Príncipe, so tours, hotel transfers or taxis are the usual way to visit island attractions.
