How to Get to Sani Pass
Sani Pass is the high mountain road linking the South African side (near Underberg/Himeville in KwaZulu‑Natal) with Lesotho’s highlands in Mokhotlong District. It is a steep, unpaved and frequently rough route that requires a capable 4x4 vehicle; many visitors use guided 4x4 shuttles that depart from Underberg/Himeville. There is a border/immigration post at the summit area (Sani Top), so allow extra time for the crossing and check operating hours before you travel.

- Cross Sani Pass early in the day to avoid afternoon weather changes and to clear the border post queues before coach groups and tour convoys arrive.
