San Francesco della Vigna is a Renaissance-era Franciscan church in the Castello district of Venice, notable for its façade by Andrea Palladio. The church is part of a former convent complex and retains elements of Renaissance planning.

Visitors come to see the Palladian façade and the church interior, which contains historic chapels and decorative work typical of Venetian ecclesiastical buildings. The site remains in religious use and is accessible to the public at set times.

The church was rebuilt in the 16th century with Palladio engaged on the façade design, producing the Renaissance appearance that characterises the building today. It has been part of Venice’s monastic and artistic history since the early modern period.

San Francesco della Vigna is located in the Castello sestiere of Venice, east of the main canal axis and not far from the Arsenale.

Reach San Francesco della Vigna by vaporetto: Line 1 or 2 to San Zaccaria or San Marco, then a 10-15 minute walk northeast through Castello. From Santa Lucia train station take vaporetto Line 2 to Giardinetti and walk ~12 minutes.

• Visit early morning before the vaporetto crowds arrive; the church's quieter side chapels repay close inspection.
• Use vaporetto Line 1 to San Marco and walk about 10-15 minutes along the sestieri if coming from the main tourist circuit-avoid the boat stops closest to the busiest piers.
• Look for hidden 16th-century drawings and inscriptions in the sacristy-small things usually missed.
