The Samanid Mausoleum is an early medieval funerary monument in the historic centre of Bukhara, Uzbekistan, dating to the 9th-10th centuries. It is widely regarded as one of the best-preserved examples of early Islamic architecture in Central Asia.

The building is compact and constructed from finely worked baked brick with decorative patterns; visitors see a square base with corner turrets and a domed roof, all executed in brickwork. Its clarity of form and brick ornament make it a key stop in Bukhara’s old city.

The mausoleum was erected as the tomb of members of the Samanid ruling family and has survived through successive centuries, undergoing conservation work at various times. It is often cited as a milestone in the development of regional Islamic funerary architecture.

Located in central Bukhara, the mausoleum sits within the city’s historic core and is easily reached on foot from other major monuments in the old town.
