Saint Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Cathedral is the main cathedral of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Cairo and the official seat of the Coptic Pope. It functions as the administrative and liturgical centre for the Coptic Orthodox community in Egypt.

The cathedral is used for major liturgical ceremonies, papal services and national-level church events and contains the offices and chapels associated with the papal household. It is a focal point for Coptic pilgrims and community gatherings in the capital.

The present cathedral complex dates to the 20th century and replaced earlier Coptic seats in Alexandria and central Cairo as the administrative headquarters of the church. It has been adapted over time to serve the needs of the modern Coptic patriarchate.
