North Coast & Rodney Bay (Castries, Gros Islet, Pigeon Island, Cap Estate)

April brings a touch more humidity as the dry season tapers, but beaches and bays remain largely sunlit and calm - ideal for stand-up paddleboarding in Rodney Bay Lagoon or exploring Gros Islet’s Friday night jump-up. Evenings can be slightly warmer; pavement in Castries radiates heat, and showers are still uncommon though brief squalls are possible. This month is a sweet spot: fewer tourists than winter, still excellent underwater visibility, and good deals if you book ahead.

West Coast & Soufrière (Pitons, Soufrière town, Anse Chastanet, Sugar Beach)

April on the west coast usually feels summery - hot but tempered by light trade-wind breezes - which makes morning Piton hikes and afternoon snorkeling excellent options before showers that may pop up later. Soufrière’s markets and the drive-in volcano see steady visitor numbers as international tourists continue to arrive. If you want quieter evenings, book a room inland or time your excursions early to avoid midday heat and the heaviest sun.

Central Highlands & Rainforest (Mount Gimie, Tet Paul, interior trails and waterfalls)

April in the interior is warm by midday but still noticeably cooler than coastal heat; rainfall is still limited so trails are generally dry and less slippery, making it a popular time for hiking the longer interior routes. Wildflowers and orchids start to appear in greater numbers, and waterfalls hold a pleasant flow after the short rains that sometimes arrive late month. A light long-sleeve and sturdy boots are sensible for variable mountain conditions.

East & South Coast (Dennery, Micoud, Vieux Fort, Hewanorra, Atlantic coast beaches)

April’s wind-driven conditions persist on the east coast but the island warms overall, and sheltered coves near the southern tip can be calm enough for dives and reef trips. The approach of the wet season is barely noticeable yet, so travel is comfortable and beaches are less crowded than north and west. Pack sun protection and a light wind jacket - mornings are pleasant, afternoons may be blustery on exposed points.
