Sahand is a volcanic massif in East Azerbaijan province of Iran, located near the city of Tabriz. The mountain comprises multiple peaks and domes formed by past volcanic activity.
The highest summit reaches approximately 3,707 metres and the massif contains glacial cirques and alpine meadows at higher elevations. The lower slopes support seasonal recreation such as hiking in summer and local skiing in winter where facilities exist.
Sahand’s volcanic geology and relative proximity to Tabriz make it a prominent natural landmark in the province and a regional destination for outdoor activities.
