Saalbach is best reached via Salzburg Airport (SZG) or by train to Zell am See and a short onward bus/taxi. In winter season many direct shuttle options operate; in shoulder seasons public connections still run but check timetables in advance.

By Air

Salzburg Airport (SZG): Salzburg W. A. Mozart Airport is the nearest international airport (about 1-1.5 hours’ drive to Saalbach). From SZG you can rent a car (drive time ~1-1.5 h) or take a train via Salzburg Hauptbahnhof - a taxi to the station is quick and local buses/shuttles to Zell am See and Saalbach are available; expect a private transfer to Saalbach to cost around €120-€180 and take ~1.5 hours depending on stops.

Munich Airport (MUC): Munich is a larger international hub with frequent connections to Austria. From MUC you can take regional trains (via Munich Hauptbahnhof) and then change for trains to Salzburg/Zell am See, or hire a long-distance shuttle/transfer; total journey time by public transport to Saalbach is typically 3-4 hours and private airport transfers cost substantially more than from Salzburg.
