Sa Kaeo (Aranyaprathet) is most commonly reached overland from Bangkok by bus, minivan or ordinary train - it's a main border crossing to Cambodia (Poipet). There is no local airport, so allow 3-5 hours travel time from Bangkok depending on transport mode.
Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) / Don Mueang (DMK): Sa Kaeo (Aranyaprathet district) does not have a commercial airport; most visitors fly into Bangkok (BKK or DMK) and continue by road. Road transfer from Bangkok to Aranyaprathet/Sa Kaeo takes about 3-4 hours by bus or private car, with bus fares commonly THB 200-350.
Trat Airport (TDX) / Nearby regional airports: For some eastern destinations travellers use Trat or even Ubon Ratchathani depending on itinerary, but these options normally require long road transfers to reach Sa Kaeo and are used less often than the Bangkok route.
Train: Aranyaprathet (Sa Kaeo) is served by a single‑track rail line from Bangkok - Aranyaprathet Railway Station receives ordinary trains from Bangkok (Hua Lamphong). The journey takes around 4-5 hours by ordinary train; fares are low (ordinary class).
Bus / Minivan: Frequent buses and minivans run from Bangkok’s Ekkamai (Eastern) terminal and Morchit depending on operator; travel time is about 3-4 hours with typical fares of THB 200-350. These services are the standard choice for travelers heading to the Cambodian border (Poipet).
