Rutland Island is an island in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands group of India, located in the southern part of the archipelago near Port Blair. It is one of the smaller islands close to the territory’s administrative centre.
The island contains small villages, shoreline areas and coastal vegetation rather than major built attractions; visitors typically travel by local boat from Port Blair. Activities are local-scale and include short excursions, beach visits and observation of coastal life.
Rutland has been part of the broader settlement and maritime landscape of the Andamans and remains sparsely developed compared with Port Blair and larger islands. Over time the island’s role has been primarily local and maritime rather than urban.
