How to Get to Rumbek
Rumbek is reached either by domestic flight into Rumbek Airport (RBX) when services are available, or by overland travel from Juba after arriving at Juba International Airport (JUB). Road journeys can be long and depend heavily on seasonal conditions.
Juba International Airport (JUB): The main international hub for South Sudan, in Juba. Many international visitors arrive here; onward domestic travel (by road or charter) is required to reach Rumbek. Taxis into central Juba take about 20-40 minutes depending on traffic; fares are typically negotiated locally.
Rumbek Airport (RBX) - domestic airstrip: Rumbek has an airport used for domestic and humanitarian flights. Scheduled commercial services are limited; many flights are operated by UNHAS and occasional charter operators.
Train: South Sudan has no passenger rail network.
Bus / Road: Road travel between Juba and Rumbek is possible but can be slow and dependent on road and weather conditions; public buses and shared taxis operate irregularly. UNHAS and charter services are often used for faster domestic connections when available.
