Roman Theatre (Cádiz) Archaeological Site

The Roman Theatre of Cádiz is an ancient Roman performance building located in the old town of Cádiz. The theatre remains were discovered during urban excavations and date to the late Republican or early Imperial period of Roman Hispania.

Visible elements include the seating tiers and foundations of the stage area; much of the original stonework was reused in later periods and the site was partly buried before modern excavation revealed the plan. The theatre lies within Cádiz’s dense historic fabric and can be visited via the city’s archaeological displays and walkways.

The theatre stands in Cádiz’s historic centre, a short walk from the cathedral and other Roman and medieval remains, and is typically combined with visits to nearby museums and excavated sites.
