The Riga Radio and TV Tower is a high broadcasting tower located in the Riga area of Latvia, built to transmit radio and television signals across the region. It is one of the tallest structures in Europe and serves as a primary telecommunications and broadcast installation.
Constructed during the late Soviet period and brought into service at the end of the 1980s, the tower combines a reinforced concrete base and steel mast to carry multiple transmission antennas. The structure also contains technical floors and service spaces for broadcast operations.
The tower sits on the banks of the Daugava River near Riga and is visible from much of the city and surrounding suburbs. It functions primarily as a broadcast and telecommunications facility rather than as a large public attraction.

Zaķusala is a short taxi ride from central Riga (10-15 minutes from the Old Town). Public transit: take tram line 11 or buses that cross the Daugava and disembark near the Gaisa tilts/Bastejkalns area, then cross the nearest bridge and follow signs toward Zaķusala; walking from Freedom Monument is about 30-40 minutes.
