The Republic Monument is a public sculpture ensemble located in Taksim Square in central Istanbul, commemorating the founding of the Turkish Republic. The monument presents bronze figures of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and other key figures from the independence period.
Designed by the Italian sculptor Pietro Canonica, the monument was unveiled in 1928 and has since been a focal point for public ceremonies and official commemorations. It combines portrait sculpture with allegorical reliefs to represent the republican era.
Sited at the heart of Taksim, the monument is immediately adjacent to major pedestrian routes including İstiklal Avenue and is a common meeting point in the city center.
