Repovesi National Park

Repovesi National Park is a protected area in Kymenlaakso, southeastern Finland, known for its rugged rocky ridges, forests and lakes. It is a popular outdoor recreation area within reach of Finland’s southern population centers.

The park offers a compact but varied set of highlights - marked hiking trails that run along shorelines and over rocky ridges, canoeing routes on narrow lakes and the well-known suspension bridge at Lapinsalmi that links two shore paths. Short day routes and longer loops are both available, with viewpoints and small beaches for breaks.

The area was set aside for protection to preserve its characteristic lake-and-ridge landscape and recreational value; management focuses on maintaining trails and low-impact visitor facilities. Traditional forestry and small-scale agriculture once shaped parts of the landscape prior to protection.

Geographically the park sits amid a mosaic of forest and lakes in southeastern Finland. It occupies a compact area of wooded ridges and waterbodies accessible by regional roads from nearby towns and municipalities.

• Best seasons: Access is year-round; summer is best for canoeing and hiking while winter brings cross-country skiing on packed trails.
• Backcountry camping: Several marked lean-tos and designated campfire sites allow overnight stays with minimal infrastructure.
