Replot
Island Island and archipelago in Ostrobothnia, linked by bridge
An island in Finland’s Kvarken archipelago linked to the mainland by the long Replot Bridge; visitors explore archipelago boating, cycling and coastal villages.
Replot (Raippaluoto) is a populated island and parish area in Ostrobothnia, western Finland, forming part of the Kvarken archipelago between Finland and Sweden.
The island has an established maritime and fishing culture and developed transport links to the mainland in the late 20th century, including the construction of the road bridge. Local communities retain traditional wooden buildings alongside modern infrastructure.
Replot lies off Finland’s west coast in the Gulf of Bothnia and is connected to the mainland by the Replot Bridge, forming part of the Ostrobothnia coastal archipelago.
- World Heritage: Part of the Kvarken archipelago, which is linked to the UNESCO World Heritage listing for its post-glacial landforms and ongoing land uplift.
What to See #
- Replot Bridge: A long sea-crossing bridge that links the island to the mainland road network and is the most prominent modern structure associated with the island.
How to Get to Replot #
Replot is connected to the mainland by the Replot Bridge (Replotbron) from the Korsholm/Vaasa area. From Vaasa city centre, it is roughly a 30-40 minute drive (including bridge crossing). Local roads and signage lead to harbours and trailheads.
