How to Get to Quy Nhơn#
Quy Nhon is served by Phu Cat Airport and by the national railway (Diêu Trì station a short drive away). Domestic flights and regional trains are the most common ways to arrive; local buses, taxis and motorbike taxis handle short trips around town.
Phu Cat Airport (UIH): Phu Cat is the airport serving Quy Nhon. Taxi from Phu Cat to Quy Nhon city centre takes about 30-40 minutes and costs roughly 250,000-350,000 VND; some hotels offer transfers for similar prices. There are also shared minivan shuttles that take about 40-50 minutes and cost around 80,000-120,000 VND per person.
Domestic connections (via Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City): Most visitors connect to Quy Nhon on domestic flights from Hanoi (Noi Bai HAN) or Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat SGN) with one-hour flight times to Phu Cat; onward transfer times from Phu Cat to the city centre are as above.
Train: Quy Nhon is served by nearby Diêu Trì station (Ga Diêu Trì) on the north-south railway; Diêu Trì is about 7-10 km from Quy Nhon city centre (15-25 minutes by taxi). Trains from Huế, Đà Nẵng, Nha Trang or Ho Chi Minh City arrive at Diêu Trì; tickets vary widely by class (soft seat to sleeper) - short regional trips are from ~50,000 VND upward.
Bus: Long-distance buses and private shuttle vans run between Quy Nhon and other Vietnamese cities. From Ho Chi Minh City or Da Nang, bus journeys take many hours (8-12+ hours depending on distance) with fares typically 200,000-400,000 VND; local public buses and taxis cover short trips inside Quy Nhon (local bus fares under 20,000 VND).
How to Get Around Quy Nhơn#
Quy Nhon is small and easy to navigate: taxis and motorbike taxis are the most practical for most visitors, while motorbike rental is ideal for short coastal day trips. Use local buses if you’re on a strict budget; walking works well around the beach and central areas.
- Taxi / Grab-style apps (40,000-120,000 VND) - Metered taxis and app-based rides (Grab is available in larger Vietnamese cities and sometimes in Quy Nhon) are the quickest way to get around if you have luggage. Expect short inner-city trips to be 40,000-120,000 VND depending on distance and traffic; confirm the meter or price before starting.
- Local buses (<20,000 VND) - There are a few local bus routes that are cheap (typically under 20,000 VND) and can get you to beaches and markets. Buses are slow and infrequent compared with taxis; useful if you're on a tight budget and travelling light.
- Motorbike taxi (Xe ôm) (20,000-60,000 VND) - Xe ôm are everywhere and often the fastest way to weave through traffic for short trips. Negotiate a price before you ride (20,000-60,000 VND typical) or use an app where available for set fares. Not recommended for large luggage or in heavy rain.
- Car rental / motorbike hire (120,000-900,000 VND per day) - Motorbikes are the most flexible way to explore the coastline; daily rental for a scooter is commonly 120,000-200,000 VND. Cars can be rented for day trips but check insurance and road conditions for longer drives.
- Bicycle (30,000-100,000 VND per day) - Bicycles are a pleasant way to explore the immediate beachfront and neighbourhoods; many guesthouses rent bikes by the hour or day. Best for short flat routes and avoiding traffic.
- Walking - Quy Nhon’s beachside promenade and compact centre are very walkable; strolling is often the quickest way to visit markets, cafes and the waterfront.
