The Queensland Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) is Brisbane’s primary public museum for modern and contemporary art, located at the South Bank cultural precinct. It forms part of the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) institution and focuses on contemporary visual culture, moving image and large-scale installations.

GOMA contains expansive gallery floors that host international touring exhibitions, major contemporary retrospectives and multimedia shows. It also houses a Children’s Art Centre that runs family programmes and interactive activities aimed at young audiences.

The gallery opened in the early 21st century as a purpose-built modern art facility and has since hosted a programme of major international artists and curated exhibitions, expanding Queensland’s capacity to present large-scale contemporary work.

The building sits on the South Bank riverfront, within walking distance of Brisbane’s CBD, cultural institutions and public transit, making it accessible for day visits and combined cultural itineraries.

  • Location and admission: Located at Brisbane's South Bank precinct on the Brisbane River; general collection spaces are free, while major exhibitions are ticketed.
