Qingshui District

Qingshui District is a coastal administrative district on the western edge of Taichung City in central Taiwan, facing the Taiwan Strait. It includes coastal plains, fishing harbours and wetland areas that are important for local ecology and recreation.

The district contains the Gaomei Wetlands, a tidal marsh with boardwalks that attracts birdwatchers and visitors for sunset viewing, and a working harbour area that supports local fisheries and industry. The coastal zone combines natural habitat with urban and industrial uses.

Historically the area developed as part of Taichung’s west-coast economy; it now forms a largely suburban and industrial district within the city’s municipal boundaries.

Qingshui sits on Taiwan’s central west coast, northwest of Taichung city centre and directly on the coastline of the Taiwan Strait.

• Tidal observation: The district lies along Taichung's western coastline and is best visited at low tide to observe shorebirds and the exposed tidal flats at the Gaomei Wetlands.
