How to Get to Purulia#
Purulia is best reached by rail - Purulia Junction (PRR) sits on major routes linking Kolkata and Jharkhand. If you fly in, use Ranchi (IXR) or Kolkata (CCU) and continue by train or intercity bus/taxi to reach the town.
Birsa Munda Airport (Ranchi) (IXR): The nearest major airport with regular domestic connections is Ranchi (IXR). From Ranchi you can reach Purulia by direct train services (2-4 hours, fares typically INR 100-400 depending on class) or by hired taxi - a private car/taxi typically takes about 2-3 hours and costs around INR 2,000-3,500.
Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (Kolkata) (CCU): Kolkata is the largest international gateway for the region. From Howrah/Sealdah you can take express trains to Purulia (4-6 hours; fares roughly INR 150-700 depending on class) or book an intercity bus; a private taxi from Kolkata to Purulia takes about 4-5 hours and will cost several thousand rupees (INR 3,000+ depending on vehicle).
