How to Get to Tidore Island
Tidore Island (North Maluku) is served by regular boat connections from nearby Ternate. From Ternate’s ports short ferries or speedboats run across the strait to Tidore - crossings typically take on the order of 15-30 minutes depending on vessel. On arrival at Tidore’s main quay the principal settlements and guesthouses are within a short walk of the landing.

- Travel to Tidore from nearby Ternate by the regular passenger boats or speedboats-morning crossings are quickest and give you a full day on the island.
- Arrange local transport or a guide in advance: public roads and services on Tidore are limited, and hiring a driver/boat locally will let you reach viewpoints and the historic sultan's sites that are otherwise hard to access.
- Plan visits to hilltop viewpoints early or late in the day for clearer views of the volcanic landscape and surrounding islands; many day‑trippers only see the town and miss these panoramas.
