The Puente Romano in Extremadura is the Roman-era stone bridge that crosses the Guadiana River at the city of Mérida, the Roman colonia of Emerita Augusta.

The bridge is a long masonry structure composed of multiple stone arches and has served as a crossing point at Mérida since the Roman period. It forms a visible element of the city’s ancient urban infrastructure and is adjacent to other Roman monuments such as the Roman Theatre and the amphitheatre.

Constructed during Mérida’s Roman colonisation in the late Republic and early Imperial period, the bridge has been repaired and modified across the medieval and modern eras while retaining its core Roman masonry and alignment. It has functioned continuously as a river crossing for centuries.
