- Take an early-morning small-boat trip from nearby Crete ports (dayboats run in summer from towns near Malia/Sissi) to avoid choppy seas and midday heat and to have quieter access to the exposed site.
- Plan to climb from the landing point - the island's Minoan settlement is compact and often less visited than mainland sites; allow time to study the shoreline sherd scatters and low walls that are easy to miss on a quick stop.
